Jasprit Bumrah injury: India T20 WC team: What was a scare turned into a nightmare for Team India. Jasprit Bumrah has been left out of the T20 World Cup after his hasty comeback. Bumrah complained of back pain during training and was immediately removed from all training routines. But the damage was already done. He is expected to miss 4-6 months with the back injury even though he does not need surgery. InsideSport understands that Bumrah has a stress fracture in his back. Bumrah was initially ruled out of the 1st T2oI IND vs SA due to injury. He recently returned from injury against Australia. But he will now undergo extensive rehabilitation and will report to the NCA in the coming weeks.

He is currently in Bengaluru undergoing scans and a full medical report is awaited. Bumrah is the second star player to be kicked out of the T20 World Cup after Ravindra Jadeja. The versatile underwent knee surgery.

“It is worrying. But we haven’t had a full medical report on Jasprit yet. As soon as he complained of back pain, he was taken out of training. The medical team is monitoring him. Back injuries are tricky and we don’t want to rush his return. The doctors will take a call on what his recovery period will be,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

Bumrah who was ruled out of the West Indies series and the Asian Cup with a back injury reported to the NCA and has completed rehab. However, his return was rushed due to the T20 World Cup. The coaches wanted him to play a few games before the mega event.

But the injury worsened and resulted in a stress fracture in his back. Bumrah is expected to travel to London for better treatment next month. If he needs surgery, he could miss more than 6 months of action.

India captain Rohit Sharma confirmed Jasprit Bumrah’s injury on Sunday. Soon, a statement from BCCI revealed that India’s first fast bowler had complained of back pain during India’s training session. BCCI medical team assessed him and he was ruled out for the game in Thiruvananthapuram.
